    Insert Date Format (Word 2000)

    Hi
    I have added the "insert date" button to my toolbar.
    It inserts the current date in the 10/10/2002 format.
    Is it possible to have this default format edited so I end up with "10 October 2002" or similar?
    If so, how?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Insert Date Format (Word 2000)

    Select the inserted date field and type Shift+F9. This will display the field code. You will see something like
    { DATE @ "MM/dd/yyyy" }
    The quoted string determines the format. Change it to your liking. for instance, to display "10 October 2002", use
    { DATE @ "d MMMM yyyy" }
    When you're done, type Shift+F9 again to hide the field code. Then type F9 to update the field.
    If you look up the DATE field in the Help index, you'll find more information on how to format it.

    Re: Insert Date Format (Word 2000)

    Thanks Hans for pointing me in the right direction, I found the answer in Windows control panel after checking out help in Word.

    I had done a search on this board without success so figured it was going to be a hidden secret.

    Re: Insert Date Format (Word 2000)

    If the format you want is among options available from Insert>Date and Time, you could do a simple keyboard macro to insert it. If you use it frequently, you can attach it to a button and put that button on your favorite toolbar.
