Access Not Responding (WIN 2000 Acc 97)

I am trying to import an Excel spreadsheet into Access using the Import Wizard.
The spreadsheet is only 200kb. When I click Import, the status bar on the bottom left of the screen
says Import, with 3 little squares, and then stops. I check the Task Manager and it says
    Access Not Responding.
Here is what I have tried so far.
    1) I created a new database and compacted it and tried the import. Still no good.
    2) I re-created the spreadsheet. Still no good.
    3) I tried using a macro with the Transfer Spreadsheet. Still no good.
    4) I am on a network, so I moved everything to my local drive. Still no good.

I have just discovered that I cannot import any spreadsheets into any databases - Task Manager
    says Access Not Responding.

Anyone have any suggestions? The network guys here aren't sure what to make of this.
Do I need more memory? What service pack is the latest ?
Is this an Access issue, or a network issue?

    All answers graciously accepted !!!

If you don't have SP3 for Acc97 installed, yes you do need an update. Win2000 and Acc97 don't coexist well otherwise.

Are you talking about JetSP3? I have never heard of SP3 for Access 97

OOps - Bryan is correct - I should have said Jet SP3. But you should also check to make sure you have Office 97 Service Release 2 installed as well. Sorry for misleading you.

Re: Access Not Responding (WIN 2000 Acc 97)

Thanks guys - I am checking with my Desktop admins to check that I have both.

Is there a way for me to see if I have them both? Where would I look?

Their reply regarding JET SP3 -
"We installed SP6 and did the window updates, but I'm not sure what JET SP3 and such is. Please let me know what you would like me to install."

Do you have a link to the download?

    We found it!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

    Much appreciated !!

Just in case there is confusion, SP3 for Jet can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q172733
