    Autotext Needs Jumpstart (Word 97SR2)

I have several dozen autotext entries in a global template that gets added and installed via code when Word starts.

When a user types the name of any of these autotext entries, nothing happens.

When they backspace over or select and delete the name and type it again, the
autocomplete "tip" pops up and all is well.

Why doesn't the autocomplete tip pop up the first time?

Re: Autotext Needs Jumpstart (Word 97SR2)

    Hi Kevin:
I couldn't really find anything in Technet or in the KB. The closest I could find is General Information About "Auto" Features in Word 97 and WD97: Some AutoComplete Tips Do Not Show. I could find nothing that would cause them to show only the second time, although there is some interesting information.

The first article, under #4, has some reasons why autocomplete might not show, but not why it won't show the first time. I'm not sure what would happen if the autotext entries were in the global template that was not added via code, but you would know that better than I.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Thanks, Phil

The autotext entries *used* to be in a global templated loaded via the Startup folder.
They worked fine when they were in there. Hummmm.

I wish I knew what code to put in to give the thing a kick in the pants.

I'll review the articles you refer to to see if I can glean any clues.
