manual calc is default (XL 97 sr2 on Win 98)

When I start XL Tools | Options | Calculation tab the calculation is set to 'manual' and I can't persuade it to default to automatic.

What am a I missing? I've checked the VBE and can't find any macros that might be setting the calculation to manual on start up.

Do you have a default "custom" workbook that is set to manual?

Look in your XLStart directory for a file named Book.xlt. If you have one of those, open it, change the Calculation option, and save the xlt template file.

It may also be that personal.xls has it's calc mode set to manual.

Once again Jan hits the nail on the head, personal.xls was set to manual calculation!
