Cross Referencing

Has anyone stumbled upon this cross referencing problem?
If you are inserting a cross reference using "Numbered Items" - "Paragraph Number (no context)" (we use this for Word 95 compatibility reasons) and you have selected some text the inserted reference is wrong. So far I've had it return 0 or 1 but not the required reference. All other reference types seem to work okay and unselecting the text allows it to work.

I'm sorry if I'm a bit dense, I've only had one cup of coffee this morning.

It seems you are indicating 2 types of referencing. First the numbered items. Second, if I'm reading right, is a bookmark reference to the numbered items?

As I said, I'm a bit slow in the morning.

Yes I've seen it many times and just change the context and delete the dud one. I have never explored the Word95 compatibility issue though. Does the context change impact what Word95 does with the link?

Yes when you open the document in Word 95 the numbers are replaced with the heading/numbered items text because it does not understand r switch.

Re: Cross Referencing

Hi Karen thanks for the interest, just to clarify.

In the cross-reference dialog box, I've selected Reference Type- Numbered Item and Insert Reference To- Paragraph number (no context). If you have selected some text in the document because you want over-write it the new reference, Word inserts the number 0 or 1 and not the correct cross reference. Is this is another bug ?
