    What would the formula be to make text in all-caps?

    And if the cell is not A1 do I still put A1 or enter the actual cell reference?

    Use the actual cell reference. You can put in a formula too: for instance, to concatenate C1 and D1 and convert the result to upper case, you can use

    =UPPER(C1&D1)

    (if you want to concatenate other cells than C1 and D1, use the actual cell reference instead of C1 and D1).

    Related functions are LOWER (converts to lower case) and PROPER (converts the first letter in each word to upper case, the rest to lower case).

    To convert text to upper case in situ, select the cell(s) then run this macro

    Sub Upper()

    For Each cel In Selection
    cel.Value = UCase(cel.Value)
    Next cel

    End Sub
