Mailwasher 2.0

I didn't put this in my previous thread about Mailwasher since it has already run its course. I don't know how many of you keep up with them, but the Mailwasher folks have a beta of Version 2.0 available on their web site. Even if you don't believe in using beta software, you might want to keep an eye on it. Lotsa new stuff in there and .... "many, many, many bug fixes..." The one I'm waiting for is to be able to setup an email account with SSL, using a port OTHER than 110. I want to add a mail account so my son can check his email when he's here and his Insight system requires SSL and Port 995. Still doesn't work yet in beta 2.0 but they emailed me that they'll have it working any time now! Check out http://www.mailwasher.net/.

I especially like some of the new features, mark/unmark all and clear list. When using MW to check multiple accounts it is nice to be able to process one account, clear the screen, and move on to the next account. Keeps the clutter down considerably. Mark/unmark all works to make the cleanup process easier.

Hi David, I agree, the upgraded version of MW is terrific, I also like the upgraded version of Webferret (5) too, they have got rid of the banner and are providing more accurate search info and it is still free. If you are unhappy with the search engine you are using, its well worth a try, it's quick download.

For the benefit of all you Mailwasher fans, he's moving right along with the version 2.0 beta process as you can see below. However, the reason I started breathing heavily for it has not yet come to pass. I've emailed them a couple of times and the response has been: "...soon..." so I continue to wait. In case you missed the initial post, I want to be able to set up a mail account for our CABLE company's internet system (Insight) and they require POP to use SSL and a unique port number.

2.0 Improvements:

Have you tried going to http://www.ComputerCops.biz ? Forums website, the official MailWasher Forum is located there...post your question - probably get an answer faster

    Re: Mailwasher 2.0

Seems like I have been to that site before, but had never noticed the forums link. I'll go do a little reading, but I must say to the credit of the Mailwasher team, that they respond fairly quickly when I've asked a question directly. I'm not having ANY problems with the beta of version 2.0 either - it's only hiccuped on me a time or two in all these iterations.

I try to let others know about the MailWasher Forum there at ComputerCops...they have other Forums on that website also - Antivirus, Firewall,etc...you name the program - probably listed in the proper forum...they will also list when updates to various programs have come into use. Very interesting website

As a result of this thread I installed Mailwasher and have been quite pleased with it but look what the filter alerted on today, good old Woody's Office for Mere Mortals:

Just add that to your friends' list...the email addy for the subscription. I have done that for my LangaList, Scott's Newsletter and Lockergnome and various others.
