    video card specs

I am installing a replacement motherboard. There was a READ FIRST bulletin included about the AGP video card warning as follows: DO NOT USE AGP 2X (3.3V) IN THIS MOTHERBOARD. IT WILL BURN AND DAMAGE THE MOTHERBOARD DUE TO INTEL 854 / INTEL 850 CHIPSET CAN'T SUPPORT AGP 2X (3.3v).

I have a JATON VIDEO107AGP video card which is a 2X. Does this warning mean I can not use ANY 2X cards or just the cards that are 3.3V? How do I find out what the voltage of my card is? It is a PNP jumperless card.

    Re: video card specs

You've got a few options here, you can research the actual construction of your card to figure out how to determine it's draw in volts, (very time consuming) You can take the card into a hardware repair shop, and have them test it, or you can call the board manufacter or visit the boards' site to determine if your display adapter is compatible.

I would not recommend 'just giving it a try'... unless of course you have no problem forking out the <img src=/S/money.gif border=0 alt=money width=17 height=15> for a new card...

    Hope that helps!

    Re: video card specs

I finally was able to contact the manufacture (JATON) and learned that the 2X AGP is a 3.3V card. It sounds like all 2X's are 3.3V. In any event, I did not use it - I had another PCI video card and installed that. Thanks for your help. By the way, I posted an update to SYSTEM WON"T START indicating I did buy a used MOBO and have everything up and running. Thanks for that help also.
