O2k Updates (Office 2000 on WXpHE)

I'm going to install a rogramme that I've bought that synchonises calendar, contacts & (soon) mail on a peer to peer network of 2 of the three Pc's.

    Background:
Now, the provider says that I should install the O2K SR2 patch - the one that mucks up attachment - before I install their software. That means I think that I have to install O2K SR1 before SR2 = no problems; also the software provider does state that their programme does disable the SR2 "patch" and that without that patch it might not be stable = to me I am happy to accept their word.

    The nub of the matter:
I had a hard disk fail in July 2002, replaced it and got everything re-running Ok. On looking at my O2K installation today I realised that I had not re-applied SR1 to this Pc. Therefore I spent 159minutes downloading it. Is there a way of downloading these upgrades ONCEso that I can apply them to the 2 Pc's please? All software IS registered.

Unfortunately I cannot receice ADSL, therefore Dial-up modem rules KO, which time is limited and - hence my question. To all loungers who have helped me in the past a GB Thanks.

I believe you can get the Office 2000 updates here. Once you download it, you can save it to disk & install it. And, of course, once you download it, you can copy it to another computer.

    Hope this helps.

In addition to Phil's suggestion, you can (or at least could) order a CD containing the service release - this knowledge base article points the way. In brief:

How to Obtain the SR-1/SR-1a Update on CD
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a can also be obtained on CD.

An SR-1/SR-1a Update CD is available. This CD contains the complete SR-1/SR-1a Update, as well as a version of the SR-1/SR-1a Update that is designed to update administrative installations of Office 2000. For more information about ordering the CD, see Office 2000 Service Release (SR-1a) Frequently Asked Questions at the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://office.microsoft.com/assistan...O2kSR1FAQ.aspx

A CD set that contains the complete version of Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a may be ordered for a minimal cost plus shipping and handling. To order this CD set, call the Microsoft Order Desk at (800) 360-7561. You will be required to provide proof of ownership of a Microsoft Office 2000 retail package to order these CDs.

In addition, packages of Microsoft Office 2000 in the retail channel will eventually contain Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a CDs.[/list]
