    Error 1303 (office xp pro)

I tried to upgrade from Office 2000 to xp pro by removing 2000 (add/remove) and then installing xp. I get an error message as follows: "Error 1303 Set up cannot access the folder crogram filescommonfilesmicrosoftsharedreferencetitles" Any help gratefully accepted. thank you.

    Check the folder
    C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedReference Titles
It has to conain the only file MSREFTL.DLL (188 KB).

If this file deleted or damaged, you can repair Office 2000 installation OR install Office XP "on top" of your Office 2000 installation.

thank you for your help. I also found the issue addressed in Q306986 which indicates that it may be a NTFS/permissions problem. I will find out tonight. Thanks Again.

'Scuse my curiosity, but if you bought an upgrade to XP, why did you remove 2000 before installing it? That means that XP can't see that you're 'entitled' to an upgrade and will start complaining when you try to load it ...

"upgrade" was used carelessly; I was installing a full copy of Office XP on a pc that had a temporarily installed version of Office 2000.

FYI - it turned out that even though my user account indicated that I had administrator rights, it wasn't until I signed on as THE administrator that I was able to install Office. I am new to XP so I don't really understand why this should be true unless some administrators are more equal than others.
