Follow-up on Upgrade to XP ???

To those who care & offered advice to my original post "Upgrade to XP ????" post# 187282

I DID IT. As suggested I did the complete "New Intallation" this past weekend & thus far everything appears to be working fine. Currently I am in the process of re-installing applications and learning about all the neat features. Next (Thursday 8:00am) i will be getting cable connectivity so if i am off line for awhile it will most likely be the fault of Time Warner.

Thanks again for all the advice

Congrats!! Get everything up and running, and then I heartily suggest you visit http://www.speedguide.net, and install the xp cable modem tweaks (very easy to do) You will be amazed at the speed increases you can achieve by some simple "tweaking" of xp, especially with cable. Get everything so it is working correctly, and get your cable up and running, and then do some "fine tuning" It's well worth the effort. Windows is set up to be a kind of plain vanilla system, so that it will work for almost anyone right out of the box, but there are many settings that will improve performance for your particular system. You may also want to check out http://www.blackviper.com , a good overview of what services can be shut down or disabled, again with good performance gains. Good luck, have fun, and remember you have System Restore as a safety net!!!

Thanks for the tips. As soon as I get the cable installed (tomorrow) I will take your suggestion.
