some tables takes forever to print (97 sr2)

My secretary has produced a few documents that are basically a table with 10 rows and 10 columns, on 8 by 14 paper , and maybe 10 pages long. Usually our network printer (hp5) prints at a rate of 10 -15 copies a minute, but printing these tables takes more than a minute and even two for each page. Any suggestion would be helpful. Could if have to do with the settings, the font or the type of margin.

Re: some tables takes forever to print (97 sr2)

    Hi Richard:
Tables have complex formatting & take longer to print than ordinary letters. It's even worse in Word 2000 (I haven't tried 2002). However, a minute seems excessive. You might have some corruption. See if you can convert the tables to text, copy to a new document without copying the last paragraph mark (or use Insert/File, which does the same thing), then recovert the text to a table. See if that helps any.
    Cheers,

still some tables takes forever to print why

thanks for the suggestion i will try it out. But the same thing happens for documents produced by other people in another cities, these document take 30 seconds to print. I still have a feeling that there is something in the way tables are created, because other table documents take less time to come out. I hope you take this as an impolite rebuff, I still feel that there is something inherent in the table formatting. <img src=/S/please.gif border=0 alt=please width=31 height=23> All formats are not alike.

The table borders are most likely the culprits, especially if the border is broken (dotted or grey). Try fiddling the borders and see if you get any increase in print speed.
