    Log On View (XP Pro)

We have recently had to new laptops added to out network and set up by different people. When booting up the log on screen (view) is different for both. One has a traditional log on view, the other has a more graphic view with icons. Where are the settings to change the log on view?

In Control Panel, Users you should be able to change the way users logon.

Changing the logon screen requires some fairly complex tweaking, but it can be done. There are no provisions in XP, ie no control panel setting, but if you want you could start here . I've never stayed at the logon screen long enough to bother playing with changing it, but it might be kind of fun. There's something about the need to change the unchangeable.....

All you need to do is go to "Start, Settings, Control Panel, User Accounts" then select the Change way users log on and off, then select the method that you want to use. Yoy DO NOT need to use any third party software to handle your accounts.

Re: Log On View (XP Pro)

My apologies for reading too much into the first post!!! Changing from "classic" to "xp" logon screens CAN be done from CP. Changing to any other screen (not what the poster wanted to do, I guess I've been reading too many xp tweak sites) is more complex.

    Oooops,
