What message do you get when you try to open it?

Have you tried right-clicking on the File? You should get a pop-up menu that allows you to save the attachment? Does the same thing happen when you try to open other file attachments? This might not be a Publisher XP/2000 compatibility issue.

Re: Publisher XP vs Publisher 2000 (Publisher 2000)

I just checked the Microsoft KB. Publisher 2002 can't open Publisher 2000 files directly. They need to be saved as 2000 first. Here's the link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q322081
You might need to have the person who created the file save it as a Publisher 2000 file and re-send it to you.

    Hope this helps.
