Arial Unicode MS won't PDF (Word 2000 SR-1)

Lately we have been having problems when our Word documents contain the font Arial Unicode MS (in the text or even in the PPT graphics that have been pulled into the document as a picture).

When we try to PDF the Word file, we get the error message that WINWORD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.

Other that discovering that Arial Unicode MS is in the document (or the graphic in the document) and eliminating it, does anyone have any guidance on how to deal with this problem???

    Thanks in advance,
    gg

Re: Arial Unicode MS won't PDF (Word 2000 SR-1)

Arial Unicode is the single largest font available under Windows, a massive 23 MB or so in size, compared with the few KB of the average TT font, and hence should either not be embedded, or be subsetted while creating the PDF. If not, the PDF file is likely to be bloated, even if you succeed in making the PDF.

You need to change the choices in the Settings|JobOptions Dialog Box of Acrobat Distiller to do either. Pl see attached GIF Screen Capture.
