    Styles (Office 2000)

"All Styles" - Are the styles in this list the defaults from Word along with any style I have ever created? If you delete a style from this list, does that remove it from the "User Defined Styles" list?

    Re: Styles (Office 2000)

Styles are saved with templates. Each document is based on a template. If you don't consciously use templates, then you just use the normal template.
"All styles" displays the default styles, plus the ones you have created in the current template.
When you delete a style, you only delete it from the current document. (unless you get a message about saving changes to the template).
If you really want to delete a style, open the template and delete it from there, or in any document, open the "Organizer" from the styles window. the organizer allows you to move and copy styles around between templates, and to delete them.

    Hi John:
I think you meant to say that "All Styles" displays the default styles, plus styles that you had previously created in the template that was attached when the document was created AND any styles that you've created in the current document.
    Cheers,

    Re: Styles (Office 2000)

    Hi Jan:
Just to expand on the answer to your second question, the answer is "yes". Deleting a user defined style from the "All styles" list, will also delete it from both the user defined list & the "styles in use" list.
    Cheers,

    Yes Phil
that is what I did mean to say.

re deleting styles - it is important to remember that deleting a style from a document will not delete it from the template. So in the next document it will be back again.
    Regards
    John
