Personal Folders (2000 sr1 to XP)

After copying my .pst from OL2000 on my notebook to a new home machine running XP, I tried to delete everything but that one .pst from my default folder, only to have XP recreate "Personal Folders" each and every time, and make my .pst a subfolder of it. "Outlook Today" goes for that (blank) file, not my .pst - what obvious thing am I missing here?

you need to delete all psts from the profile first. Tools | email accounts, find the dialog for message stores. set your good pst as the default message store. if this doesn't help, make a new profile.
