ISP Filter re Kids Surfing the Web?

I have a friend with two young children who are beginning to get interested in computers, web surfing, etc. We've heard about a service in the USA called NetAngel which has had very good reviews. However it is American based and therefore pricey for Canadians. Can anyone recommend a similar Canadian-based service?
TIA

Although I haven't personally tried it (let alone the fact that it's brand new), MSN 8 is supposed to have excellent parental controls, and the user interface is also excellent. Might be worth checking out.

Hi Mark, I think the freebie version of Outpost has secure child blocking options available - I am sure you would know better than me. I found it excellent, the only reason I changed to another FW is because OutPost prevented me using telnet easily on my old 98SE. I have put several colleagues onto it with 2000 and XP who are finding it terrific.

I'm lucky...my kids don't have a clue what the Internet is yet. I presume you mean the Outpost firewall?

Give your children time, I am sure they will learn sooner than you might like, especially with you as their Dad! And yes, I did mean Outpost Firewall, you put me onto it and I found the program great, plus I remember it did have options for child blocking......

Thanks Mark - and Cyberdance - for your replies. Outpost is US-based but will check out MSN8 for Canada.

There are four software applications that I know of that will do the trick (I hope) for you.. They are CyberSitter, Surf Watch, Cyber Patrol and Net Nanny. If you do a search on Google, you will find their home pages. My other thought (FWIW) would be to go to PC World's site or TuCows (www.tucows.com) or one of the other freeware/shareware sites and see what, if anything, you can find. The four applications noted are all about US $39.95 last time I checked.

P.S. If you search on Google with the search term "web+filter" you will find all sorts of stuff.

This is terrific feedback. I'll pass it along to my friend so we can check them out.
