Importing Tables (Access 2k)

I'm having some troubles importing a table that was given to me on a disk. After I unzipped the documents, I went to the import option and selected the .dbf file, then I got this error message. "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object '<.dbf file>'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and path name correctly." Can someone give me some insight into what's going on?

I am using Access 97. When trying to import a dbf file, there are several versions of dbf files as choices. Have you tried all of the choices?

You may have to rename file to be able to import. According to MSKB Article Q209685:

To avoid this problem, rename the file so that it conforms to the MS-DOS 8.3 file name format. That is, the file name must be no more than eight characters in length, and it must have an extension following the period. It does not have to be the correct extension, such as .dbf for a dBASE file, but it must have some file extension.

Post one of your dbf files and let's see if we can import it.

Have you checked whether you can import any dBase file (as I presume that is)?

Do you have the ISAMS for dbase installed on your machine? Are you sure the file isn't in dBase 7 or later? Does the name of the file have any odd characters in it?
