    Hi all

    Just installed small business server.

I want to set the user password to expire after a certain amount of time.

    Where I do this?

    Re: password expiration

    We are running SBS 5.0

There is only 1 domain and it does not seem to have a tab for password expiration.

I expected it to be either on the group names that the user id's are members of - but then what if I am a member of more than one group, or on the user id itself. All I can see on the userid is the reset password and force to change on next logon.

There is a section at the bottpm of the users tabs that you can set the password expiration. However I know that there is a place you can set a policy as to how long the password is, and how often it expires (eg every 90 days) I had a quick look for it, but have to go to a meeting so cannot be more explicit, but I feel that is what you want

    Hi Paul

I have found the check box for change password on next login. You are correct that I am looking for the rule of 90 days = change password. I cannot find that screen.

Any help you or others can be with this would be appreciated.

Hi, Managed to find the following: Start;Programmes;Administrative Tools;Domain Controller Security Policy. Click to expand and then select Account Policies;Password Policies.

    Re: password expiration

When you look at the menu there is a selection for the Domain Controller Security and one for Domain Security and I thought that my post could have been ambiguous. Sound like you got it right.
FYI our settings are 3 passwords remembered, max age 90 days min age 10 days min legth 6 characters. I also rename the administrator account so it looks the same as any user account, being another hurdle for anyone who may try the administrtor name.
