'Lost' Option in Styles & Formatting Pane? (2002)

    Hello All,

I make heavy use of Word's "Styles and Formatting" pane. At the bottom of this pane there is a Show box that contains options like

    Show: Available Styles
    Show: Styles In Use
    Show: All Styles
    etc.

Well, there once was an option called "Show: Formatting In Use" as well. At some point it disappeared from the list. I'm assuming I did something to inadvertently turn it off, or that Word hiccuped at some point. I've checked the settings in the Custom... Format Settings option, and can't seem to find what I need there.

I'd really, really like to get this option back; does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Arianna

    Arianna,
Take a look at the Edit tab in Tools, Options for a checkbox called "Keep track of formatting." When it's unchecked, the Styles and Formatting task pane won't show "Available formatting."

That did the trick...I somehow had gotten this setting mixed up with "Smart Cut and Paste". Must not have had my coffee yet.
