    Numbering (Word XP)

    Is it possible to set up reverse numbering in word. Like I would like to set it up that it counts down from say 10 - 1 in my document. Can this be done???

    Re: Numbering (Word XP)

    I could only do this with great difficulty (Using Word 2000). It is probably more trouble than it is worth.

    I used a SEQ field for my counter and then did a calculation based on the largest number in the document. I have attached a sample document for you to look at. Use ALT-F9 to see the field codes.

    The very last SEQ field has the bookmark "LastNumber" wrapped round it and appears as
    { SEQ SRSequence LastNumber c }

    Each of the other fields appears as
    { = { REF LastNumber } + 1 - { SEQ SRSequence n } }

    To add more numbers to the sequence you can just cut and paste the existing fields, don't forget to update fields (Control-A F9) to get them to show the correct values.

    Re: Numbering (Word XP)

    You can modify your method slightly and set up a semiautomatic numbering sequence by using a combination of formula, SET and SEQ fields.

    Example:
    { SET HighNum 11 }{ = HighNum - { SEQ RevNumList } }
    { = HighNum - { SEQ RevNumList } }
    { = HighNum - { SEQ RevNumList } }
    where HighNum = your last number +1

    Display:
    10
    9
    8
