    Fonts in Tables

    Is there a way of defining a font face for the whole table, other than the font face command in every cell <td>

    I was hoping I could use CSS, but I can't find any info

    Thanks for any help in advance

    Hi, Maurice:

    You can use CSS, and it works as specified with IE 4+ and NN 6. The problem is NN <6.

    (If you want information about using CSS selectors, see <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.htmlchef.com/css_selectors.asp>CSS1 Selectors</A>.)

    With NN<6, CSS inheritance is not well-observed. Something like

    table { font-family: "courier new" }

    that SHOULD apply to everything contained within the table, is ignored by NN<6. You can apply some properties on the th and td tags, but to be most consistent, I enclose td (and th) contents within paragraph tags

    <td>

    content</p></td>

    and apply contextual rules like

    td p { font-family: "verdana" }

    Unfortunately, with NN<6, you'll have to do a lot of experiemtning to get anything to work correctly. More W3C-compliant browsers like IE4+, Opera, and NN6, are MUCH easier to use with CSS.

    Let me know if you want more infromation.

    Regards,
    Ivan
