XP and Hibernate (XP Pro sp1)

I used to get my XP Pro to go into standby or hibernate via the keyboard. Now I can only get into standby by start/ close/standby or standby + shift for hibernate

1. Select Start | Turn Off Computer (Windows key, then Up Arrow key, then Enter).
2. While in the Shut Down box, hold down the Shift key and hit the H key (for Hibernate) or S key (for Standby).
3. Hit Enter. The computer will instantly hibernate or standby.
Remember that Hibernate is useful because it saves the status of your Windows XP session (all the programs and documents you have open) to the hard drive, so it can automatically restore it the next time you power up.

You also can use keyboard with programmable keys (from Compaq, HP, Microsoft and many others) to have one-key shortcut to hibernation and/or standby.

Thank for your reply I've not made any system changes. The programmable keys on my PC Line keyboard used to put my computer into standby or hibernate. The screensaver has power settings: Turn off monitor after 20 mins Turn off hard disks after 30 mins system standby after 1 hour and System nibernates after 2 hours has stopped working the only thing working is the screensaver 15 mins

Did you apply SP1? If yes, was it working at any time after applying SP1?

I've seen some comments in an MS newsgroup about drivers being replaced by sp-1. Try re-installing the keyboard driver.
