Old (Read) Message Continues to Show as New-Unread

This really is only a minor irritant, but it's starting to drive me batty!! In the Books/Ezines Forum, the latest message dates back to 03 October (<post#=185257>post 185257</post#> by defrag), Whenever I rejoin the Lounge, this message reappears as unread.

I didn't notice it at first, because from the Main Index, it does not appear as unread. However, I've started cycling through the different forums (fora?) by using the jump-to short cut at the bottom of the screen, clicking on the forums I keep an eye on, to see if there are any new messages. It doesn't seem to matter if I view the forum in expanded or collapsed threads, the red "unread" folder shows up for this message each time I join the Lounge.

Once I've clicked on the message, the folder changes to the yellow, "read" indicator, and remains as "read" until I exit the Lounge and sign back on at a later time.

Can anyone duplicate this phenomenon, or is this a private haunting, just for me? <img src=/S/invisible.gif border=0 alt=invisible width=15 height=15>

Re: Old (Read) Message Continues to Show as New-Un

Since I've never visited that forum, I figured I'd be a good candidate. When I opened the forum, obviously everything for about a year had a red indicator since I'd never been there. I made a point of reading the Adobe Photoshop thread in question and then I logged out (which I don't usually bother to do). I visited a few sites and came back, logged in and went back to the forum. All threads now have a yellow indicator except the one you're asking about.

<img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15> Thanks for checking Al. It's nice to know that it's not just me experiencing this.

I'm not sure this will stick, and I realize it is a somewhat drastic measure, but I managed to finally fix the perpetual "unread" indicator!!

I caught up on all the forums which I follow regularly and then did a "Mark all Forums Read" from the main index. I logged out and then back on, and the message is now properly showing as read.

This method was probably overkill, but I was starting to get a little paranoid.

<img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> It's back! How do I kill that message, so that it shows as read and stays that way?
