    Converting Cell Formats (2000/SR-1)

Attached is a spreadsheet with numbers and percentages in several cells. My problem is when I try to perform a calculation on any of the cells I get a result of "#VALUE". I tried multiplying all the cells by the number 1 using the following method:

I type a 1 in an empty cell,
    I copy the cell,
I select all the cells I want to multiply by "1",
I go to Edit, Paste Special, Multiply.

The only thing that changes is the position of the numbers in the cells, it doesn't change them from text to numbers.

I have found a way to "strip" whatever is on the cell so I can convert them to numbers, but that involves an export into another program. Is there a way to convert these numbers using Excel? (By the way, these numbers were imported from another program)

The trick you used only works if there is no "text" in the cells. You have text at the end of all the cells. (It is ascii char 160 = "no Break space")

In one of the cells, highlight the last char (it looks like a space) and press ctrl-c to copy it to clipboard
    Edit - replace
In find what: hit ctrl-v to paste the character
    Leave "replace with" blank
    Select "replace all"
    your text should be values!
