I use my own trash folder "D:Spare", into which I drag (move) files I no longer need. (D:Spare gets copied to a backup drive daily, and then the contents are deleted. Never throw anything away).

Until now I've been using the old two-handed juggling trick to get the D:Spare folder visible in the left-hand pane, and the file not-to-be-really-deleted in the right-hand pane.

Then it dawned on me:

1) Make a copy of the D:Spare folder (right-click, copy)
2) Paste a shortcut in the C:WindowsSendTo folder.
3) Say "Ta Da!" exultantly.

Now not-really-deleting a file is as easy as a right-click SendTo.
