Mail merging to Outlook (Outlook 2000/Word 200)

I love the ability to be able to merge to electronic mail in Word using an Outlook address book so each contact gets an individual e-mail. I find it so much more personal than sending to a group using the BCC method.

I tried sending something that had a coloured background and lots of graphics. Alas, only the text was sent. Is there a way to use the mail merge function, yet retain these features?

Sounds like you're using HTML mail format and it's getting converted to plain text. This could happen at either your email server or at the recipient(s) server. For example, my office is on Exchange, and we convert outbound mail to plain text. If this is what's up there isn't much you can do about it. But maybe there's something else going on...

Word 2000 cannot merge to e-mail in HTML format, only as plain text. I believe it will work in XP, though, so you can look forward to it if you upgrade.

Thanks to both of you for replying. It looks like I am out of luck until I upgrade.
