    Complete Data Loss (XP)

During a Windows (ME) session on a stand alone machine, Outlook seems to have 'lost' all my profile details, including appointments, contacts etc. and on next launch required reconfiguration from scratch. Is there a logical explanation? I had archived data during the previous session if that may be relevant. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

On a stand alone machine all your data is stored in a ..pst file. I would open all .pst files on your machine in Outlook to see if your data is there. Go to Windows Find and search for *.pst. Note where each file is and then open Outlook. Then go to open on the file menu and choose personal folder file,. Open all the personal folder files you found on your machine.

    Steve,

Many thanks, your a life saver! Although I'm still puzzled as to how/why Outlook launched itself in 'setup mode', at least I've got my data back (relying on my memory for my appointments was a particularly scary thought!).
