    Auto mark-as-read

    Hi,

I would like to automatically mark-as-read some messages processed with a Rule (i.e. move to folder X and mark as read) - what's the simplest way to do that?

    Thanks!

    Re: Auto mark-as-read

    I am using Outlook 2000
I can't see any way of doing this entirely by rules but a fairly easy process is :
set up the rule to move the messages to the target folder,
select the folder and then <Ctrl+A> (minus the less than/greater than of course) to select all the items in the folder and then right click somewhere in the selected area. From the drop down menu, select mark as read. This marks all selected items.
Someone else will probably be able to help with a a slicker method using macros, but this works on my installation.
    Cheers - hope this helps.

    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.ornic.com>http://www.ornic.com</A> for exlife or <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.slipstick.com>http://www.slipstick.com</A> for markread custom action.

Thanks Mary. As it says on the slipstick site, markread may not work for all version of Outlook 2000, and it doesn't for mine... oh well. Maybe I should just code it myself... Thanks anyway! [This problem is not big enough for me to justify buying exlife] CR

if your reason is to get rid of the little envelope icon, don't waste you time. programmatically marking as read doesn't generally affect the presence of the icon.
