Re: Windows Explorer Windows (XPP SR1)

This may not be the answer, but I don't think it would hurt to try. Back in May in the thread on non-sticking settings, like window sizes and icons v. tiles, etc. I made <!post=this post ,142559 >this post <!/post> which fixed the problem. After installing SP1 I had begun to have the non-sticking settings problem again, so I repeated the deletion of the two registry keys and it AGAIN fixed the problem. If you're nervous about it, EXPORT the subkeys before you delete, in case you want to put 'em back later. BUT, WinXP re-creates them anyway! Somehow, the deletion gets rid of whatever XP was "not remembering."

Thanks. I actually remembered your post about deleting some registry keys but, as usual, I didn

Post back, would ya, on whether it works for that problem too. Now if I can just figure out how to make Windows Explorer remember that I have turned on View, Status Bar (bottom of screen)!!! Seems like it won't stick no matter what I do. I like to have the info in the status bar to check file count, etc.

    Al,

Yes I will let you know in a day or two if this works. It has worked through 3 restarts and 3 cold boots so far.

Until now my status bar has always been there. I will pay particular attention to that now also.

    Thanks

I don't know if I've stumbled on another one like the hiding tool tips or not! Ever since I wrote that in my post about the missing status bar, it has been SHOWING OK repeatedly! Go figger!

Good For Our Side! Likewise on the Explorer status bar for me. Don't know why I didn't think of those two keys when I was agonizing over why the darn thing wouldn't stick.....
