    Excell contact hyperlink (2002 SP2)

Is there a way to link (hyperlink?) a contact in Outlook to a cell or group of cells in Excell (and Word) For example, we have an internal project information sheet on Excell and a link to the contact file in Outlook would eliminate dual data entry.

    OK you want the hyperlink to do what? <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

How will a hyperlink in MS-Excel eliminate dual data entry? If you enter it into MS-Excel, you won't be able to hyperlink to MS-Outlook and add the entry to the address book of MS Outlook.

Now you may want to write some VBA code to help with that, and I don't know of any other way.

Now if you want to have a name for example be a hyperlink to the e-mail of that person, then write the name in the cell and use <font color=red> CTRL+K </font color=red> to invoke the Insert HyperLink Dialog.

Then in the Link to choose E-mail Address

Then in the E-mail Address, enter that person's e-mail.

You will get a hyper link that will fire up your default e-mail client with the address filled.

I have some code that would allow you to use Lotus Notes, you can find the VBA code for Outlook [url=http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/tips/tip86.htm here a website that should be book marked by anyone interested with Spreadsheets [/url]

    Hope this helps

Re: Excell contact hyperlink (2002 SP2)

Maybe this will help clear confusion. Using a templet we created in Excel, we issue a project info sheet that performs a few calculations and then "circulates" among departments as the key identifier or "ticket" if you will, to do work on the job number on the sheet. On this sheet, for everyone's convenience, is the customer name and contact data, same as in Outlook. In stead of re-entering this data from Outlook, we would like to provide a direct link back to Outlook to assure the project sheet always has the latest data as it can change through the project. We do not enter contact data through Excel, always through Outlook. It seems like there should be an easy way to click on a file name in a cell in Excel and have it take you to a contact's address card in Outlook. ???????????

What you want can only be done using a macro.

See if this newsgroup thread is of any help.
