Auto Detection of email Addresses fm 'nickname' (2000)

I have recently had some 'helpful' network people build our office network and reconfigure my computer. Prior to their 'assistance', I had Outlook setup to automatically select email addresses from the contacts list by simply typing their nickname (field in outlook). I have played around with the settings but cant seem to enable the function.

Can anyone help me out with this...I'm sure it is something simple!

This is the closest I could find... not specific to the Nickname field.

Thanks for the information. I confirmed that the appropriate box was checked and the function still does not work. ....still perplexed. Thanks once again for taking the time to respond!

Sounds like your nick name file is corrupt. The simplest solution is to do a search for .nick and either rename or deleted it (exit Outlook first). Outlook will create a new, empty file when you restart it. Otherwise you can download a utility that can fix some kinds of problems. Go to http://support.microsoft.com and in the search page look for article Q242074. A link there will give you access to the utility.
