I appologise for covering old ground but can someone tell me how to get to attachments that have been removed as outlook express clasifies them as unsafe.

Im guessing you have selected the option in OE under the OPTIONS>SECURITY tab to "not allow attachments to be saved or opened"? Check if this is what you have selected for security purposes, if you do then I am not sure how to recover such attachments unless they end up in the temp folder? I am sure someone in this forum will know the answer. I do not have this selected because my AV is very good and will not allow anything through that may be potentially a problem.

if you want to keep the attachment security level high, hit forward on the message and open or save the attachment, rather than changing the settings in tools |options | security.

Cyberdance has the right of it. i had the same thing happen to me when i upgraded from IE5.5 to 6.0. it very sneakily changed the settings for my e-mail in OE. i lost all the attachments on both old mail and new, incoming mail. i frantically wrote here and got a very quick answer, pretty much the same that Cyberdance gave you. as soon as i went in and unchecked that little box, all my attachments came right back to where they belonged. don't know about you, but i intensely dislike it when microsoft does something that they think is "best" for me. the rest of my comment is best at this point. let me make up my own mind (such as it is)!
