    Losing Connection to Server (A2000 WinXP)

    I'm having a lot of problems using Add-ins in my databases. I have a laptop (A2K, Win98) and a desktop (A97, 2K, and XP, WinXP) networked. Inevitably sometime after I install an add-in things come to a screeching halt and I get a message that I've lost my connection to the server. The error is not not immediate; could be several sessions later. I don't have the problem when I import tables, forms, etc., it's just add-ins that are problematic.

    Both Access and the add-ins are loaded on each computer and I'm working "locally" when I get the error so whether or not the server is connected should be a moot point. Once it happens the database is bollixed for good.

    The only commonalities I see in the add-ins that wind up trashing the database are that they are freebees downloaded from the Internet. Those sites are reputable and include Helen Fedemma's website). I do have two add-ins that don't cause problems, both are shareware downloaded from the Net.

    Anybody else had this experience and found a fix? I'm frustrated and clueless.

    What is the specific message you're getting. There are numerous similar messages, and they tend to have very different causes, so you need to be specific.

    Because you have A2K and AXP installed, I would hazard a guess at MSKB Article 304548 is the cause of your problems
