Can you hide tables from the DB window (Access97 & XP)

Can you hide the table tab and hide the tables on the database window view.....and be able
to keep the query, form and reports tabs?

No, you can't. In an end-user database application, you'll want to hide the database window entirely, and provide access to forms and reports through a startup form (for instance a Switchboard), and/or a custom menu or toolbar. Only the database developer should have to work from the database window.

    Thanks Hans,
Yes I agree with you....had a coworker ask the question and I found how to hide the tables but did not see how to hide the
tables tab on the database window...... I agree about the part of making a start up form and hiding the db window.

Just an observation (in case it wasn't already painfully obvious) - hiding tables is a convenience, not a security measure. As long as you can get to Tools | Options in the menus, you can make "invisible" items visible.

In Access 97 you can select a table, right click, properties, and select the hidden property.

How do you then make it visible again?

Use the Tools-->Options dialog to show Hidden Objects.

Go to Tools, Options, View, and check Hidden Objects. This will display all system tables plus your hidden table of interest. Go to properties and uncheck hidden for the table of interest. Then go back to Tools, Options, View and uncheck Hidden Objects.
