Default location of links (97 Sr2)

Is there a way to set a default location where Excel will go when you set up a link? Right now, even if the file location is set to a network drive, when you try to create a link, it starts pointing to the C: drive. Not convenient if you have to walk the long network tree every time. I'd like to set a default.

I haven't encountered this issue. How are links created which lead to the C: drive?

By far the simplest way to set up links is to open the workbook that is linked to and navigate to it when entering the formula in the target workbook. Having the workbooks tiled (Window, arrange) eases this.
