Performance-- Windows 2000 vs Windows 98/ME

Hi,

I have what is probably a very simple question to answer:

I have a MS-Access database on two computers (one runs Win 2K and the other Win 98). They have equal RAM and processor speed. Why does Windows 2000 perform noticeably faster then Windows 98/ME?

because of the OS - the NT kernel is much better than win9x and there is no DOS in NT.. For business win2k is generally better but for games, win9x is.
