    Passwords

I have a computer that uses Windows 98, and Office 2000. I need to cancel out the old passwords that were entered when the computer was set up, but I don't know where the passwords are stored. I also need to cancel out any passwords needed for screensavers. Are passwords stored in a special file somewhere? How do I cancel/change a password if I don't know the old password?

    Re: Passwords

You might search for a file with the extension .pwl - deleting this has cured some of my dial up connection prompting problems in the past, cannot say whether it might help or hurt your situation. I would expect that some applications store the passwords within the application itself, thus removing the file may not help.

    Re: Passwords

The screensaver passwords are stored in the registry here:

    HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTControl PanelDesktop
    ScreenSave_Data=

Deleting that key should remove the ScreenSaver passwords.
