Mail Merge to Email (Office 2000)

I am running Windows XP with Office 2000. I am ready to merge a document in Word and want to select Electronic mail. The only options I have is new document and Printer. I have done this before on an older machine. How do I get Word to recognize Outlook Express 6.0 so that I can send notices through email?

I did not mention that I am using Outlook Express. Do I need to install Microsoft Outlook to have this capability?

According to Word's online help, "your system must include a MAPI-compatible e-mail or fax program." Possibly OE doesn't qualify?? Maybe someone with Microsoft Works Suite could tell us because Works doesn't include Outlook.

As a follow up - it turned out I had to reinstall Microsoft and let Outlook be installed. Then the option of electronic mail showed up.
