Mechanic Stethoscope

Just wanted to share a great find. I was in a local DOLLAR SPOT store and saw a MECHANIC'S STETHOSCOPE for $5.00. I thought it might be handy for checking fan and hard drive noises. I always have problems figuring out which fan is being noisy. Problem solved. Works like a charm.

I've seen a screwdriver used for the same thing....

Ear on the handle, tip on the item in question. Very simple, but pretty effective. (Of course, I wouldn't try touching a sensitive computer part with a long, metal blade...)

That is brilliant. Now I can really feel the part on site.

I've always longed for a return to the days when engineers wore white lab coats, carried clipboards and looked inquisitively at large mainframes with flashing buttons and reel-to-reel tape drives.
