    Outlook 2K SP3 100% CPU (2000 SP3)

After installing Service Pack 3 for Office 2000 , Outlook is chewing up my CPU - 90-100%. I'm running on a Dell Dimension 8100 with Win 2K Pro.

    Any ideas?

I had a similar problem earlier with ZoneAlarm, but this one is different - or least appears to be.

No ideas or solutions, I'm afraid. It has been mentioned in this thread in General Office - it may be worth keeping an eye on it in case someone comes up with some answers.

    Re: Outlook 2K SP3 100% CPU (2000 SP3)

Did you see this in WOW #7.53

A good friend of mine, who has a hacked outllib.dll, sent
me this cautionary note, after installing SP-3: "I couldn't
figure out why I was going to 100% CPU ~25 seconds after
launching Outlook, until I replaced the patched DLL with
the original. Blammo. Back to normal."

So if you hacked your outllib.dll, I sure hope you have a
copy of the original handy! Over-write the hacked
outllib.dll with the original BEFORE you install the SP-3
    update.

Well, it might be viewed as slander <img src=/S/hushmouth.gif border=0 alt=hushmouth width=16 height=16>, but I think Woody might be wrong in this instance. It's been confirmed to me that others who have not hacked their outllib.dll file are also encountering this same problem, even when updating a clean install of O2K.

    Re: Outlook 2K SP3 100% CPU (2000 SP3)

I never hacked my outllib.dll file and I have the problem too.
The Outlook.general newsgroup has a few suggestions, but this works for me:
Set the date of your machine to several days in the future then start Outlook, reboot, and change the date back, restart Outlook .
This seems to need to be done each day.

In WinXP I find that you can do this process at any time with out the reboot step, but it is less reliable.

Hope this is of some help.
