    Every page is numbered '1' (Word 2000 SR1)

    I have a 25-page document, containing 1 section break. The pages in the first section are numbered i, ii, iii, etc. The page numbers appear correctly in Print Preview, as well as when the document is printed out. The pages in the second section are numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. These page numbers also appear correctly in Print Preview, yet when I print the document, all the pages in Section 2 are numbered "1." What could be the cause of this (annoying) problem?

    Thank you for any suggestions!

    What have you got in the footer for section 2 pages? Try deleting the entire footer
    and reapply the page numbering. (You probably already thought of that but that's
    all I can think of.)

    As part of the diagnosis, if you press Alt+F9 in the footer and look at the field code that generates the page number, is it something other than [b]{

    Do you have the footer showing "same as previous?" If so, unclick this on the toolbar. When you inserted the page number, did you change the format in the insert; page number; format on the toolbar?
