beta-testers - RULES?

I've read "Woody's Lounge Rules" and can't see anything that covers this; what's the rule/consensus:

As some of you know, I dream up these truly awful ideas and encode them into templates which become vehicles for my ideas. It's wrong of me to call them applications.

But from time to time I upgrade them and I need guinea-pigs^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H beta-testers for a couple of reasons

    (1) I'd like to know if they run on anything like an original Win95/Word97SR2 platform and

    (2) I'd like to know if they are proof against idiots or bullets.

In theory the general public would see these things, marvel at my creativity and register them for $25 each. So far it hasn't happened. I can hardly call my efforts a commercial enterprise.

What guidelines might be suggested for someone like me who wants to announce to the Word/VBA population that I have an interesting goody for Woody's Lounge members to explore?

I'll run this past our Exec Sec, she is the one in our organisation most likely to find a use for your work.

She went home while it was still light so will have to wait for tomorrow.

    Will let you know. :-)

I think you've more or less covered it. Interested parties will find there way to you...

    Hi Chris,

I've spoken to Carmel, and she is happy to act as a tester. (She wouldn't let me tell you she's a bottle brunet...not really!)

Can I suggest that you post a brief description of what the template is designed to achieve? That way your testers will know if it is something they want to be involved in, that is Carmel would probably only want to test something from which she might ultimately benefit.

    She is running W98/Office97.

    Re: beta-testers - RULES?

So a very short post (with a brief description as Granville described) in Word forum would be appropriate? I'd add a disclaimer that I'm looking for beta-testers.

I'm *VERY* conscious of how BBS conferences got downgraded with blatant commercialism. The help I'm asking for here is one level up from "please play with my procedure code", which is one level up from "please inspect my code", which is itself up from "How do I do this?".

Someone please let me know if what I'm doing seems too far removed from the purpose of the Lounge, or if it gets out of hand.

Granville, thanks for the response. I'll post a brief message in this forum later today.
