    IO Card

My friend gets this error when he switches on his Dell PC - IO Card parody interupt.

Then nothing happens - it wont log in - all you can do is switch it off again.

    Any ideas - thanks

    Re: IO Card

We need to know more about the machine, please. What kind of plug-in cards are in the slots? Is there any "error number" included in the message? Does the error happen during POST or after Windows starts to load its drivers? By the way, no offense intended, but I assume you meant "PARITY," rather than "PARODY," although many times we DO think of Windows that way!

Depending on your answer to the cards question, one way to start is to REMOVE any I/O cards except video and try re-booting. If OK, then add cards one at a time until the error happens. Viola!

Has he recently added any hardware, say a modem or eide bus card?
