    Rotating Text (Word 2000)

Is there a way to rotate text in Word. I don't want to use WordArt. I only want to rotate it say 33 or 45 degress. I want to be able to determine how much I want to rotate it. I'm aware of Format / Text directions (but it rotates the data too much).....

You've discounted WordArt... Maybe embed PowerPoint -- Word doesn't handle this natively.

We discussed a similar problem in replies to <post#=186905>post 186905</post#>.

Copying a text box and paste special as Enhanced Metafile allows free rotation in Word 2002, but not in Word 2000.

Thanks for that pointer, Stuart! It should definitely do the trick.

That was my experience on Word 2000, but I had been told that it also rotated the text on Word 2002. Which version are you using?

Apologies for the late reply. Just read this thread now.

Have you tried rotating the text in an Excel worksheet cell(s) and then copying the cell(s) to the clipboard and then pasting it (using Paste|Special)into the Word file as an Excel Object? You get freedom to rotate to an exact extent upto 90 degrees at least.

    Re: Rotating Text (Word 2000)

Another very late updation to the same problem:

There is a little-known "camera" function icon in Excel which directly converts any selected cell or cells into an MS-Office Picture object by a single click on an icon, which can then be pasted anywhere -- into a Word document, for example. So, for example, I can get 60-degree sloped text in a cell in Excel converted to a Picture object.

The camera icon can be dragged onto any toolbar by going to Tools|Customise|Commands (Tab) and scrolling under "Tools" Menu to the Camera Icon and Function. For some strange reason, this function is not available in Word.

    This applies to Word 2000.

Here's an example of the same thing, done using the "camera" icon in Excel.
