    Primavera

Can you throw any light please on whether it is possible to convert Primavera 3 to Project 98 and if it is, what the implications / restrictions are? Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Re: Primavera

First, are you using Primavera Version 3.0 or 3E (Enterprise). There used to be an MPX conversion between Project and Primaver Version 2.0, however, the conversion does not work with P3 Version 3. Also note that P3 used to have a product call Pipeline that could help with this. Typically, about the only way to get data from one system to the other is to run an export from P3 and use set Project Mappings to import the data into MS Project.

Note that in P3, your resource codes can have other fields attached to them. Project 98 does not support this capability (at least not in the same manner)

The bottom line is that P3 Version 3.0 or 3E Project files do not typically convert directly to Project 98. You will have to deal with the export and import.

    Good Luck

... One other item. You might want to try Meridia Net Toolbox which may can help move data between MS Project and MPM. Perhaps this could help with P3 as well.

Gary, any idea where I can find "Meridia Net Toolbox" ?

I'm in a sudden need to convert MS Project schedule to Primavera, and want to see whether this can help.

    Thanks

    Re: Primavera

Go to http://www.MERIDIANET.com/. Meridia net has changed its name. You can download a trial version of the software to experiment with. Please note that this software links MS Project with MPM and may provide some help.

To convert MS Projet to P3, your best bet is to set up an export map from Project in a format that P3 will accept. Create a text or .csv file that can then be loaded into P3. You could also do the same in P3, that is, export data from P3 and load it into MS Project.

Of course, it is slightly more difficult then this, but it can be done. Good Luck. Reply to this post or send me an email if you need additional information.
    Regards,
