Sharing Personal Folder? (Outlook 2002/Exchange 5)

    My Problem
My Director currently owns an Ipaq PDA which he uses to synchronise his email, contacts and appointments, nothing strange in that apart from the very fact it does not synch properly. I found the reason for this was because he had 400 unopened emails ( with attachments) and about 2500 opened emails ( some with attachments). It was obvious that when he was trying to synch with the inbox he used up all the memory in the Ipaq. He was getting messages from the server telling him he was over his size limit. as well!!!!!

We rectified this by putting a personal folder on his C: drive and getting all the mail etc to go there which allowed him to sort the mail out there without the message. He like's this but now his PA can't view his calendar as it is on a personal folder.

    Question

Is there someway I can make his personal folder to be shared so that his PA can see just the calendar or is there a way I can get the Ipaq to synch to folders either in his personal folder or his exchange server folder. Or is there another way apart from shooting him!!!!

I believe Activesync only works with the main folders. But it should work with a pst's main folders IF that is the mail delivery point. Is his delivery point his Exchange mailbox or the pst?

    Yes you can 'share' a personal folder - but not in real-time. <img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15>
That is, only one user at a time can have it open as it is opened for exclusive access by Outlook.
If you're able to work with that
Make sure that it's protections are adequate for read-write access
Have the PA 'connect' the file via File > Data Files > Add
The file is typically in userlocal settingsMicrosoftLocal SettingsOutlook.pst

    Thanks Andrew

I think this could be the work around as the PA's Boss is out of his office a lot of the time and the chances of them 'looking' at the file at the same time is slim. Thanks once again
