Templates in Outlook? (98)

Help!!
I am in need of a method to have a template on Outlook 97. I have a repetitive mailing that has basically the same content on a weekly basis.
Is there a way to have a template within Outlook?

Thanks, Brad

There are at least two methods for sending similar mail messages.
For this answer I'm assuming they are text only - any message that is primarily Excel or Word data may be better sent from one of their templates.
I also don't have Outlook 97 loaded so may be mis-remembering some of the functionality

The easiest is simply to re-send an old message. To do this,

1 ensure that you retain messages in the sent folder
2 double-click on the appropriate old message
3 make changes
4 click send

A more complex variant of the same thing is to create a 'templates' folder and store your 'master' mails there.
This does not require you to retain sent messages but will require you to drag copies of master messages into it.

I'm not sure how much of this applies to Outlook 97... been too long... but check out <!post=Post #166074,166074>Post #166074<!/post>.

Yes this is fine in Outlook 98, therefore I assume it would be the same in 97. This is a simple method that works in all Outlook and Outlook Express versions. Often simple is the best way. There is always the option to keep text in an unsent message in the DRAFTS folder, which can be kept forever and simply copied and pasted into outgoing messages.

I have a solution that I have set up for Office 2000; I'm not sure how backward compatible this may be, but it might be worth looking into.
1.
Create a new mail message, including recipient addresses, subject, and message text;

Using 'Save As', change the file type to Outlook Template (*.oft);

Since this is a recurring feature that I want readily available, I set up a custom menu item for message templates and then added links to each of my standard templates. The template is now readily available right off the menu.
For convenience, instead of using fixed names in the address I used group names, so that if there is a change in the distribution list I only have to edit the group and not the template.
