    Colour categories (Office 2000 SR1)

In Mere Mortals Vol 3:26 (21 Oct 2002), you said:
    "COLOR YOUR OUTLOOK
In Outlook 2000 and 2002 you can colorize your appointments, this can be handy to visually group certain
types of events. <snip> Coloring appointments can be tied to Outlook categories and that's the most efficient way to use them.

Open up your Outlook calendar and choose Edit | Labels | Edit Labels .
You'll see a list of colors plus text labels like:
Important, Business, Personal, Must Attend and so on."

Well, I can't find Labels / Edit Labels in my Edit menu -- or in any other Outlook menu!!
    Does that mean my Outlook is incompletely installed? Or . . <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15> . . ?

    Any suggestions please.

PS I really do like your Smilies -- can they exist outside the rarefied atmosphere of the Lounge? How?

Re: Colour categories (Office 2000 SR1)

I'm using 2002 SR2 and the Edit > Label >Labels menu item is definitely on my system. ("Label" was singular).
You definitely have to have selected "Calendar" first though and click in that window - it's contexct sensitive.
I don't believe that it is a sub-option that can be removed (change Office installation does not show anything obvious in this area).

Re: Colour categories (Office 2000 SR1)

I'm using Outlook 2000 SP-3 and there is definitely not an Edit>Label menu item on my system even when I've selected "Calendar" and an appointment.

I'd love to be able to use this capability, but I can't find any way to make the "Label " item appear on the "Edit" menu.

Any help anyone can provide will be much appreciated.

Edit | labels is calendar only, OL2002 only. You can use Automatic formatting on custom views to color table views, based on categories or almost anything.
